Luke Vukusic Earns Lions Call Up

Luke Vukusic

Luke Vukusic has been rewarded for his form in the first half of the season with a maiden call up to the Devon Lions squad for their three day game against Cornwall at Plympton. Luke will feature in days 2 & 3 with the match starting on Sunday.

Luke has scored 239 runs in 5 league appearances this term, including 89 in the win at Cullompton on Saturday and 74 in the tie at Torquay & Kingskerswell.

Luke joined the juniors at the age of 8, showing early potential which he has realised in the 15 years since. He made his league debut in 2016 and was swiftly moved from the 3rd XI to the 2nd XI. He made his 1st XI debut in the pandemic-interrupted 2020 season against Whimple. He cemented his place in the 1st XI in 2023 and has been a mainstay in the side when university commitments have allowed ever since.

To date in league cricket, Luke has amassed 1523 runs in 76 innings. 803 of these have come in 1st XI cricket. He’s scored 9 half-centuries and taken one 5 wicket haul across 1st and 2nd XI cricket. Luke’s most memorable knock in Thorverton colours came in 2024; a match-winning 115* off 74 balls against a solid Sandford attack.

The Vukusic name is no stranger to representative honours; Luke made his international debut for Croatia last season, following in the footsteps of brother Zach and sister Erin who have also featured for the Croatian national side. Zach & Erin have both played for their respective Devon senior sides, with Erin turning professional with Somerset last year & Zach currently in the Somerset Academy.

Go well Luke!
