
Men’s First Class Cricketers
There are three known former Thorvertonians that have played first class cricket. These are:-
Giles White

Giles played at Thorverton as a teenager before representing Somerset (1991 & 1993), Devon (1992-93) and Hampshire (1994-2002). He played 128 first class matches, scoring 6195 runs(including 9 hundreds) at an average of 30.66, and took 12 wickets at an average of 54.41. His highest first class score was 156. He also scored 2398 List-A runs in 126 matches. He is currently the Director of Cricket at Hampshire. Shane Warne, a team-mate of White’s at Hampshire, claimed he was a good enough leg spinner to play for England.
David Fursdon

David Fursdon played at Thorverton and played first class cricket for Oxford University between 1973-75. He made his only first class 100 at Lords in the varsity match against a Cambridge side that included Peter Roebuck. The Oxford University side he played in included the internationals Imran Khan, Chris Tavare and Vic Marks. He played against the Indians in a tour match in 1974 for the combined universities and took career best figures of 6-60. In his 17 first class matches, he scored 484 runs at an average of 21.04 and took 43 wickets at an average of 33.20. He also made four appearances for the combined universities in the 1975 Benson & Hedges Cup and played for Devon in 1981. David is the current Lord Lieutenant of Devon & Patron of Devon C.C.C.

Terry Barwell

Terry Barwell played for Thorverton after his first class career for Somerset, captaining our 1st XI in 1992 and 1993. He played for Somerset between 1959 and 1973, scoring 1344 runs at an average of 19.47. His highest first class score was 84 against Glamorgan in 1965 and he also made 74* against the touring Pakistanis at Taunton in 1967. His final first class appearance came in 1973 for Minor Counties against the West Indians at Torquay, in which he made 8 & 15 against an attack that included Vanburn Holder, Lance Gibbs and Clive Lloyd. He was on the losing side in the 1967 Gillette Cup Final being run out for 24, as Somerset lost to Kent by 32 runs.
Women’s County Cricketers

Erin Vukusic

Erin made her Devon Women’s debut in 2022 after many years in the youth setup. She has regularly played 2nd XI since her debut in 2020 & won the 2nd XI player of the year award in 2021. In 2022 she was selected by Western Storm for their emerging player programme.
Erin has also represented Croatia Women in international cricket, captaining their first ever match against Czech Republic in November 2023. In 2023, Erin was also named Devon Women’s Player of the Year & selected for Western Storm’s Regional Academy Programme.
Erin signed a two year professional contract with Somerset Women in November 2024 & made her Somerset debut in a T20 against Durham in May 2025. Her first wicket in professional cricket was that of Australian legend Ellyse Perry.
Imogen Daldorph

Imogen was the first female to play 2nd XI cricket for Thorverton in 2020 & made her senior Devon debut in 2022 following many years in the Devon youth setup. She was part of the Devon U18s side that won the National Cup in 2022.
Eliza Heard

Eliza Heard is a former Thorverton member, featuring eleven times for our 2nd XI and twice for our T20 side between 2020 and 2023. Eliza made her full Devon Women’s debut in 2024 alongside being named in the Western Storm Emerging Player Programme.
