We are seeking both business and individuals to sponsor us for the 2022 season. 2021 was one of the most successful seasons in the club’s 162 year history. We have plenty to look forward to in 2022; the 1st XI competing in the second tier of the Devon Cricket League for the first time since 1990, the Women’s Softball Team entering a league for the first time and a club reunion evening of former members in the pipeline. The club has many running costs and simply wouldn’t be able to operate without the fantastic & kind support of our valued sponsors.
All of our sponsorship options come with a social media announcement and a link from our newly launched website to yours as standard, as shown here.
SPONSORSHIP OPTIONS
Ladies Changing Room Sponsor – £300 per year Due to the addition of more and more female players in our senior league teams, the club has built a ladies changing room, stood next to the pavilion. We are seeking a sponsor to have their banner/hard board (to be provided by the sponsor) put on the exterior of the changing room in a prime location to be seen by players and spectators. As ladies changing room sponsor you will receive a complimentary half-page advert in our fixture programme.
Fixture Programme Advertising
Full Colour Advertisement in our A5 fixture programme for the 2022 season. Around 200 are printed each year and distributed to members, junior’s parents and placed in local pubs.
£50.00 Half page £100.00 Full page
Pitch Side Advertising – £150 Per Banner A Banner which will be displayed on the Boundary through the playing season (April-September). Banners are placed on the fence on the opposite side of the ground to the road, so they are visible to traffic driving in and out of the village. Sponsors are asked to supply the banner themselves, this price is for display only, the banner remains the property of the sponsor.
Match Sponsorship – £50 per game Match days add up to one of our highest expenditures across the course of the cricket season with Match Balls, Umpire Fees and providing the cricket tea. Match Sponsorship is available for all home fixtures for the 1st XI, 2nd XI and Women’s Softball Team. You will be promoted and tagged as the match sponsor in all our pre-match advertising across our social media platforms. You will also be invited to the game and will be able to enjoy a complimentary drink of your choice and cricket tea on the day. For 2022 we are purchasing a new board to sit on the side of the pavilion to show the matchday sponsor to everyone at the match on the day.
Match Ball Sponsorship – £20 per game If you don’t fancy the full match day sponsorship you could sponsor the match balls for both the 1st and 2nd XIs for a round of league games. You will be called out and tagged as the match ball sponsor in all our pre-match advertising across our social media platforms.
Player Sponsor – £30 Sponsor a player for the 2022 season for just £30. You will feature in the fixture card and tagged or mentioned across social media in every team announcement next to the players name or photo. You will also feature on a dedicated player post if they have a notable performance any games during the season. These do get a notable amount of coverage across the season. A new page on the website will be created to show all player sponsors, including a link to your website.
Any offers of sponsorship are greatly received and really appreciated by all at the club. If you would kindly be able to offer any sponsorship for the 2022 season, please contact seniors@thorvertoncricketclub.com
We have set up a survey to gather members thoughts on our bar.
We are keen on ensuring that our selection of alcoholic, soft-drinks and snacks available to purchase from the Charlie Andrews bar is representative of what our members want. We will use the results from this survey to adjust our stock for the 2022 season. Please note that we are retaining the use cans and bottles rather than returning to draft alcoholic drinks.
You can anonymously complete the survey using the online form here:- HERE

Friday 12th August 2022 – Save the Date!
We are planning to have a club reunion next year to commemorate 50 years of cricket on the current Station Ground. Following the success of the reunions in 2002 and 2010, it would be fantastic to see as many former members and anyone connected with the club in in attendance.
For now, please save the date and further details will follow in due course.
For former members who aren’t currently members of Thorverton CC, please email seniors@thorvertoncricketclub.com to ensure you are added to our contact list. Please feel free to pass the date onto anyone who is or has been connected with the club in the past, or send their details via email to the above email address.
We hope to see as many members and former members in attendance at what should be a special evening.
We are delighted to announce that our very own James May has won the Devon Cricket Outstanding Service to Coaching Award as chosen by the Devon Cricket Board!
James has made a significant contribution to the colts set up since it was restarted by him and Jock Spry back in 2003. James has overseen an colts programme which started with around six colts on a Friday night and has grown to over 100 registered youth players, in his 18 years of service. That is a lot of youth cricketers that have gone through James’ sessions! He has successfully applied for Clubmark status on two occasions, safeguarded youth cricket by being heavily involved with the purchase of the ground and has been practically ever present at Thorverton’s Friday night training sessions since 2003.
Congratulations to James who I’m sure everyone will agree is a well deserved winner and deserves such an accolade.
James will be invited to a day at Derbyshire CCC to help celebrate his achievements with the ECB’s other county winners.
The committee are currently in the process of setting out a club development plan and need your help!
A member’s survey has been set up to allow the committee to gather opinions on how the club can improve in all areas. We would really appreciate it if you could fill this out on the following link:-
Our 2021 AGM will take place at Rewe Social Club on Monday 29th November at 19:30. All members are welcome and encouraged to attend.
To enable the smooth running of the meeting, if you would like to stand as an officer of the club, you must give prior notice by e-mailing seniors@thorvertoncricketclub.com with the position you would like to stand for, and the names of your proposer and seconder. It would help if you could ensure that your proposer and seconder will be in attendance at the meeting. This must be done by 12:00 on Monday 22nd November at the latest.
If you have something you would like added to the agenda or to “any other business”, please e-mail by the same time and date.
We have the following positions vacant which we will be electing on the night. If anyone would like to stand for election, please respond via e-mail:-

As you will be aware, several of the above committee members have been within their positions for a number of years. If you would be interested in shadowing any of the above individuals to improve your knowledge and skills with a view to taking over in the future and enabling a smooth, progressive succession please do let us know.
A new committee structure was trialled for this year and the committee believe it to have worked successfully. We would like to formalise this as a permanent change at the AGM.
Two members of Thorverton CC have received wider recognition for their volunteer work for the club.
John “Charlie” Andrews
Our President, John “Charlie” Andrews was nominated and reached a ten strong shortlist for the LV Pride of Cricket Awards. Charlie has been at the club for an impressive 67 years and held many posts at the club including 1st XI captain & groundsman. In 2021 alone, he has painted the clubhouse, erected a new fence and shed and helped prepare the ground for cricket.
Charlie was unfortunately pipped to the award by Steve Fletcher of Whitley Hall CC in Yorkshire, but to even be shortlisted for an award of this calibre speaks volumes of Charlie’s magnificent contribution to TCC.

Charlie was also nominated for the “Lifetime Achiever” Award in the Devon Grassroots Cricket Awards in which he came runner-up.
Following the memorial fixture for Simon Molineux, John Carter & Dick Vooght on 18th September, the newly renamed “Charlie Andrews Bar” was unveiled in the Pavilion as a surprise to an emotional Charlie.

Ben Coe
Ben Coe coaching the U13s
We also had another nominee in the Devon Grassroots Cricket Awards as Ben Coe came runner up in the “Unsung Hero” Award following an incredible contribution to coaching and match managing in the Thorverton colts section in 2021. At one point during the season he had been involved in either playing, coaching or match managing for all 7 days in a week!
The U13s which Ben has coached this season won the EDYL Plate Competition at Station Ground in September.
We are so lucky and thankful to have volunteers Charlie and Ben and are extremely proud of their deserved wider recognition. The club couldn’t function without the dedication shown by our volunteers.
Questionnaire sent to members regarding club facilities and what required improvement. A grant is available, so we encouraging members to offer their feedback as to where potential grant funding can be best used.
After the success of wine and wickets the club will be entering a ladies softball league in 2022.
League Marking System – the DCL have implemented a club sustainability report which is highlighting clubs areas for improvement and to help secure their future operations. We only received 3 demerits which were:-
1- The small number of volunteers
2- The number of volunteers coving multiple roles within the club
3- No ladies team (as above this has been addressed for 2022)
We hope that we can encourage more members to get involved with volunteering at the club in 2022. If you are keen to offer your time, please contact a committee member or e-mail seniors@thorvertoncricketclub.com
